I just want to write a quick note to all that post here and provide links to info that helped me in my speech class. I received a 100 on my informative speech on FL CCW and a 99 on my persuasive speech on why we should be able to carry on a college campus. I couldn't have done it without you all providing numerous links in posts that helped me gather my facts. Just an added bonus, I got those grades from a professor that is anti-gun!

She said that it sent cold chills up her spine to even think of one of her students carrying a gun but it was a very good speech. I got remarks from alot of classmates, such as "I've never looked at that in that light" and "I got chills when you were talking". The way that I finalized my speech was by telling them this...."a gunman walks in and starts shooting, the law says that you can't carry on campus. How many of you think that you'll survive?" "Now, the table is turned and you're allowed to carry on campus, there's 1 or 2 of you that can and are carrying, now how many will survive? When seconds count, help is only minutes away."
By the way, I'd love to work for the NRA!

it was only a 5-7 minute speech so I didn't get to as many points as I wanted. Some of my points were about studies done on what ccw does to crime rates, how Utah State University didn't have any problems even though they allow students to carry concealed, also I put them in the shoes of a rapist...would you rather try to rape a girl on campus that doesn't allow CCW or one that does. I reminded them of the fear of another Virginia Tech happening and how things could have turned out differently.

Cool those are some good valid points, I wish they would allow concealed carry on my campus. My campus isnt what I seem to be, recently there has been so many violent acts against people minding their own business. I remember one night leaving the library I saw like 7 guys gang up on 1 guy, and last year someone got shot in one of the dormitories.

My hat is off to you! Here's the thing; even though you might not see an immediate, overnight change in campus policies (and I'm sure you won't), you've planted an excellent seed in the minds of your fellow students and even the anti-gun teacher. This is how revolutions get started...someone points out an injustice or a better way of doing something, then enough people get on board to make a difference.Quote:
