I am going to need everybody's help on this one. gunfreezone.net

Last night (or was it this oh-dark-hundred) after reading about the shooting in Omaha I made a decission to tackle this Gun Free Zone stupidity. I "bought" the domain gunfreezone.net (.com and . org were taken but not being used) and my intention is to make a nation wide list of all public & private places that will not allow law abiding citizens the right to defend themselves.

It was heat-of-the-moment thing and after the fact I realized "Holy Cow! How are you going to gather all that information?" so I come to you guys & ladies for ideas, tips and help.

I also want to post articles and other news related to this subject. Any and all ideas are welcome.

I salute your efforts! I don't know enough about software/database tools that would be suitable for this type of effort. I would think organized by state and city would be easiest.

In the wake of said shooting I looked up most of the large malls here in Columbus.

Polaris Fashion Place is No carry
Easton Town Center is no weapons, but the policy is unclear on legal carry
Tuttle Shopping Mall - No website to check policy
Eastland- No carry (appears to b the same group managing Polaris)

If i find more I will let you know

Miggy, you have a ton of work cut out for you my friend.

Here in Tennessee, any restaurant that serves alcohol for on site consumption is off limits to carry of any kind.
I know that Value City Furniture on Germantown Parkway in Bartlett TN is posted no carry. The Kawasaki dealership on Summer Ave. in Bartlett TN is posted.

I'll try to come up with any others I am aware of here in West Tennessee.

As soon ast the domain is parked with my provider I will set up an email address so everybody can email the information. I am thinking something catchy like nomore@gunfreezone.net

I know this is going to be the tasks of heracles, but somebody has to do it.

    Miggy,

Correct me if I am wrong, but your focus will not be on places that states themselves have deem a gun free zone, ie, bar, or whereever across the board. But places that choose to be a gun free zone, ie, businesses that post signage or whatever electing to be gun free.

    Is that correct?
Just remember that shot placement is much more important with what you carry than how big a bang you get with each trigger pull.

Wow Miggy - well dude more power to you.

Indeed some short cuts can be made re states with a blanket no carry policy in some locations but to gather what you suggest re establishments etc will take time. I wonder if some suitable Google search criteria might help to gain some info.

Be a most useful ''exposé" however if manageable ..... help us all to boycott or write etc as appropriate.

I think this is a bad idea. No offence to anyone, but if there is a list then it could be made that it is our reponsablity to find out if it is ok to carry or not at the store. by looking on your web site insead of the store to post it at the entrances. like they have to do in michigan! http://www.mcrgo.org/mcrgo/doc_file/...guns_front.doc http://www.mcrgo.org/mcrgo/doc_file/...oguns_back.doc this is what you need

That might be the case if folks were supposed to see a state run website with laws but this one?

Naw - it'd be chance only that took folks to find it. Unless a place is signed (legally) then it's open season No one can be expected to have to find a site such as Miggy has in mind.

The following link will take you to the NRA/ILA webpage that give a national listing of major businesses that are not gun friendly.

Uhhh, Migster? I think you are thinking quite along the same lines as another member here who started a site called http://posted-places.com/forum/. He set it up in a forum format so folks could add data themselves. I thought it was a great idea but maybe the site needs a good publicist, as it so far hasen't taken off like I hoped. The one thing I thought would be a bugger was when each state (which had it own forum) got a lot of posts, it would be difficult to weed through. If somehow it were easy to make things alphabetical by state or county or??? I'm here for ya, buddy, if I can help.
