Don't forget to use the extra security locks on the inside of the door-aways!

You are telling us stories about getting "made" what do you think he is telling his friends about his day

I wouldn't call that 'getting made'...sounds more like 'getting ready'...I would have done the same thing...AND...I would have called the front desk!

I would've used the deadbolt on the door.

You wern't 'made', just prepared. Now I got 'made' in the mall. I got a sandwich and a cup of coffee at Nordstrum and set down to eat, somthing felt wrong on my hip so I felt back there and my gun was partially uncovered. I covered it and ate my lunch, as I got up to leave I glanced at the table behind where I sat, and the woman at that table geve me a sly smile. I definalty can say that is being 'made'.

I find it odd that the police didn't show up, knocking on your door and asking to see your permit. Perhaps that fellow didn't report it to the front desk because he wasn't supposed to be there?

You may have saved yourself a lot of trouble by just being ready.

+1 I totaly agree. Does an off duty LEO care if you notice he is carrying a sidearm under his jacket? The answer is a big NO and why should you.

When I was plumbing for big companies here in Memphis, it was sometimes my privilege to be escorted by the maintenance man into apartments in bad sections of town. That dude would be as cautious as a nudist in a rose garden. He knocked repeatedly, he called out "maintenance!" loudly. Once we entered, he'd keep yelling "Maintenance! Hello! It's Gerald!" And he'd explain "These people 'round here, you don' wanna surprise 'em."

That hotel employee needs to learn a little protocol. Maybe you helped.
I went to buy some camouflage pants, but I couldn't find any.

The phone company guy did that once, each time he entered my house after having to go back out side: "Phone man, comin' in". Good idea, I figured he may have been on the wrong side of a gun barrell once before and didn't want to repeat the experience.

No, but in some states being "made" can cost you your permit/license. Concealed means concealed. What happened to the author was not being "made". If anything, having been in public it could have been considered "brandishing" had a LEO seen the situation. In the hotel room you did correctly. It's good that everything came out ok with both you & the hotel maint. person.

    Yep:

§ 46.035. UNLAWFUL CARRYING OF HANDGUN BY LICENSE
HOLDER. (a) A license holder commits an offense if the license
holder carries a handgun on or about the license holder's person
under the authority of Subchapter H, Chapter 411, Government Code,
and intentionally fails to conceal the handgun.

Of course just catching a glimpse of it under a jacket isn't intentional, but "unintentional" could become a subjective thing if the person that made you freaks out sufficiently enough to cause a panic and get the police involved. If that person screams "he's got a gun!" in a crowded restaurant and nervous patrons that have been watching the news start running for exits and you dive for cover and draw your weapon looking for the guy with the gun, for example. Might be tough to explain your way out of that one.

You’re absolutely correct, regarding brandishing, and I was more or less thinking of just normal day in and day out carry.
