Good Morning America - "That deadly Gun" Omaha Shooting
This morning on Good Morning America, the mother of the Omaha shooter is on to say "I am sorry" to everyone for her sons actions. She said that she "knew" something was going on, and went home to check her ex husbands gun collection. When asked why, she said she had hoped that he would have taken "that gun, that deadly gun" and sold it illegally instead of what happened. She goes on to say that it would be better off if he were in jail for selling it, than to take the lives he did.
I question why she continued to let him have access to "deadly guns" when she knew his state of mind.
She is starting to blame "the deadly gun" for his actions. I can just see in her mind that the GUN caused him to act this way, that if he didn't have the gun, then all would still be well. All would be "well" with a confused, troubled, untreated guy that is still a danger to himself and society walking around.

Reason: Correction on the shooting incident - NOT CO Shooter
"Gun Free Zones" is where only criminals carry guns.

Well, even if she doesn't think that the gun caused him to act that way, she surely believes that without a gun, he would likely have been "harmless."
You know, like he couldn't otherwise have obtained a gallon of gas and a book of matches, walked in, doused a few pews of churchgoers, and set them afire.
I even spoke with a guy at work tonight, who was decrying the apparent decay of civilization. (We were commiserating.) But this guy started talking about how it would be better if people couldn't get guns, and I immediately (as calmly and quietly as I could manage, since we were in the break room right outside our office at work) explained to him why it's absurd to think that the solution lies in keeping people from being able to get guns. I think I made some progress: or at least, I didn't let him think that there were no people out there who don't believe that crap.

I suppose that is a way of saying she wishes that the state would do her parenting for her? Is it not her duty to safeguard her firearms? But what she will not do for lack of intelligence or willpower the state is supposed to foist on everyone.

I just re-wound the DVR to be sure, that was the mother of the kid who killed 8 people at the mall in Omaha, not the church shooter in CO.
I got the impression she was a little nutty, the way she kept repeating everything she said.

her lack of common sense and parenting skills shes trying to place blame elsewhere ( on the gun )

Some people should just take a hint, and simply not procreate.

What about the deadly knife collection? Sure seems like he could have grabbed anything and used it if he was hell bent on killing.
I hope someone in the media calls her on her statement.
Heaven forbid that she take any responsibility.

If she thought she had something 'evil' in the house, why didn't she insist that it be removed at the first thought?
I know this will be taken as 'piling on' but when she kicked her kid out (also known as shirking parental responsibility), why didn't she change the locks to the house?

Saw the interview. It was a very poor interview and she was not impressive.
She did seem fairly nutty. I would even go as far as to say Stupid in that she seemed a total dingbat. The apple did not fall far from the tree.

Actually, liberals DO believe in personal responsibility... They believe YOU should take personal responsibility for the consequences of their irresponsible behavior.
