    Carry at Church/place of worship.

Just had a thought, did any of you carry at church this past Sunday for the first time based on recent events in CO? I always carry so it was nothing new to me but maybe some of you changed your practice as a result of the shootings.

Yes I carried for the first time at church this weekend. But to be honest, it was the first time I have been to church since my permit arrived.

Speak for yourself...I'm taking my roscoe with me....

Here is Virginia's law on it:
18.2-283. Carrying dangerous weapon to place of religious worship.

If any person carry any gun, pistol, bowie knife, dagger or other
dangerous weapon, without good and sufficient reason, to a place of
worship while a meeting for religious purposes is being held at such
place he shall be guilty of a Class 4 misdemeanor.
The penalty, if you are convicted of not having good and sufficient
reason by an unreasonable judge, is a Class 4 MISDEMEANOR, which is the mildest of all crimes. No jail time and a maximum fine of not
    more than $250.

I think 'good & sufficient reason' would cover self defense but IANAL....

Against the Law in Georgia Alot of good the Kimber will do me in the car safe. I have started sitting in one of the wings close to the side door, it seems to have a tactical advantage.
Sad to have to think that way in church.

Don't go to church but do some photography there and yes, I feel no different about carrying there than anywhere else i go.

I chose not to violate the law, and left my in the car. To do so would be loss of my CHL permit. To those who carry illegally, and believe that confession is good for the soul, I might point out that a confession on this site could be used as evidence against you.

good thing about my area. theres still a law on the books that prohibits lack of carry in church.

Maybe I should have qualified this question.

It's legal here in MN unless posted just like anywhere else in the state so what I meant was IF IT IS LEGAL where you live have recent events in CO caused you to carry in church when you hadn't up to this point?

I share security duty with many other guys and my week comes around once every 2 months but I always carry rather I'm pulling security or not. I'm glad Oklahoma has no problems with it and our church has no problems either. Actually it's something that has not been discussed among those of us pulling security. It probably will at our next meeting now.

I carry a Kimber Ultra Carry II in a Crossbreed SuperTuck. My wife carries a Walther PPS .40 w/Crossbreed holster.

What would everyone here advise? My church meets Saturday nights and we ALWAYS have a uniformed Police officer (patrol car lights flashing for traffic purposes) on premises. Additionally, my wife and I hug A LOT of people and I often play guitar in the worship band. Any particular reason for me to carry at church or is the ridiculously obvious police presence enough?

Perfectly legal in Texas. I am fairly certain of a handful I know who carry "religiously" in church.

It wouldn't surprise me if our priest was packing. He has associations with numerous local law enforcement agencies and likes to ride patrol when he can. He is definetly cut from a different cloth than most.

Do you trust your life and the lives of your family to the officer?

What are the laws in your state?
