    IWB magazine carry

I read the post "If you carry IWB AND tucked..."

    http://www.defensivecarry.com/vbulle...t=iwb+magazine

and it seems that the majority do not carry and extra magazine. If they do, it is in a pocket.

Had an idea and wanted to know if anyone had tried this.

I am right handed so when I order a holster and magazine, I order the right handed version. What if I ordered the left handed magazine and then turned it around so it fit inside my pants (ie IWB)? That way, it is in the correct position for a normal reload.

    Thoughts?

that would work if you wore your belt on the inside of your pants as well :)

Well it's more elaborate than that to get an IWB mag pouch, to begin with you actually need a design that will still attach to your belt and go inside the pants.

Any ole' mag pouch isn't going to do that.

You need something like THIS, or THIS ONE for IWB mag carry.

A right side clip-on mag holder could be used for an IWB left side holder.

True, but it all depends on the clip, if I were going to go that, I'd make sure it was one heck of a clip that will work in the reversed role and provide enough ability to to keep the carrier in the pants and not come out with the mag, when you start using things in an unintended manner, your mileage may vary.

I tried a IWB magazine pouch but it was not very comfortable.

I do carry a spare magazine in a OWB pouch, sometimes two. The shirt that covers my IWB holster covers the OWB magazine pouch just fine too.

Same here. I carry two spare mags just to help balance the load. Even if they're spotted from a distance they're a little hard to identify unless you already know what you're looking at.

I do this at times with my single mag Blade-Tech mag carrier.
It uses a Tek-Lok belt attachment and works fine when worn reversed IWB.
Additionally I have a second dual mag Blade-Tech mag carrier that is not sided and the mags can be installed in any direction or even opposite opposed to be worn left, right, front or back.

I sometimes carry this Milt Sparks IWB mag pouch.

It's made in a double version, too.

I found that wearing the mag IWB was not comfortable. I now simply wear it OWB...works much better for me. OMO

I wear IWB and tucked. My spare mag is OWB in an el-cheapo fabric flashlight holster (folding knife holster works just as well) with a fold over Velcro flap. Its black, the magazine is black and you have to look real hard to see that it is a magazine, not something else.

When I carried a 3" Kimber 1911 in an IWB holster, I carried a spare (blued) magazine in Leatherman Wave nylon pouch. I carried the pouch horizontally just to the left of my belt buckle, with the flap facing left. It was perfect for the Officer-size magazine.

YMMV one hell of a lot,

I have a comp-tac mag carrier and I just tried it IWB just to see if it worked. It works just fine , but it's not real comfortable. It does stay put very good when pulling out the mag.
