The "authentication" image won't show up for me, so I can't vote.

Maybe they only allow domains originating from California and Massachusetts to view the image....

I could vote, but I'll defer. Looks like things are way ahead for the issue anyway. I just have a problem with the word 'bars'. I really feel weapons should not be in bars. I think Arkansas was smart to deny the privilege in places specifically for alcohol consumption. In a restaurant that serves alcoholic beverages, it's okay so long as the permit holder is not imbibing. Get caught, and you'd likely loose your permit.

I agree with RamRod... being in a bar and getting hammered while carrying are totally separate issues. I don't drink when I'm out and about, but do like to go to my favorite pool hall or American Legion. In Arizona, it's still illegal to carry concealed, even with a permit, into a bar. I'd like the option to stay sober and still carry legally. Judge me on my actions, not my intent!

I go to bars quite a bit, as I live in a college town and thats what people do.
I do not drink a drop, neither do 2/3 of the people I go with.
we play pool and shoot darts. I HATE that I am not allowed to carry there.

I heard about this today on talk radio. The *conservative* host mentioned that it passed a senate committee 8-1 and said that it isn't a good idea.

I disagree. I do think that it is a bad idea that I can't carry a handgun into a restaurant because they sell margaritas. I'm thinking that there should be some restriction i.e. carrier cannot consume, cannot be legally intoxicated, no carry in a "51% establishment," or something to the effect.
The preceding post may contain sarcasm; it's just better that way. However, it is still intended with construction and with the Love of my L-rd Y'shua.

I am a designated driver, I go to bars all the time for the soul purpose of making sure my friends get home alive and well. They don't go with plans on getting hammered, they go knowing they are going to some alcohol and don't want to be over the legal limit.

I would agree with not carrying and consuming, but if I can not carryg in bars, then I stop being a designated driver. I am there to protect my friends, and if I can't protect myself 1st in a place where people tend to act in way's they shouldn't, then I will stop trying to protect anyone else.

P.S. I know when any of my friends are over the legal limit when I can beat them at pool. If they beat me, they are still okay (It's a game I enjoy, but stink at)

I don't have a problem with carrying in bars - I do have a problem with drinking while carrying; I see it as two different things.

    Ditto.

Remember too, that "bar" doesn't only apply to the neighborhood dive. In FL for instance, the prohibition also applies to the "bar area" in the nicest of restaurants. So if you're out for a nice dinner and need to wait a few minutes for your table......
