Some of today's meds are scary! You hear all the side effects on commercials & that is enough for me to not even want to take aspirin.

A couple of years ago my dad lost part of one finger while working on the railroad. During his recovery, one of the medications he was on caused him to feel suicidal. He called me to come to their house & take all his firearms home with me until he got better.

This is another reason that I'm worried about the pending legislation about 'involuntary commitments'. Let's say that his reaction had been serious enough for him to need medical attention to deal with this temporary effect, caused by medication. Under the new legislation he would lose his right to own firearms FOREVER!

Take care of yourself, and hope this passes quickly. Even though the gun safe may be locked, I do hope you can continue posting.

I can tell by your original message the meds have kicked in. Smart move locking the safe. I'm bi-polar and have gone through many med changes, it's not fun! Thank God they finally found a combination that works and I'm stable. Best wishes in your recovery. Have someone keep us up to date!

Hope it's something you can get past quite soon. Best wishes for you, now give your safe keys to someone you trust.

I applaud your presence of mind to lock up all your guns. I only hope that I would have the conviction and strength to do the same in a similar situation. My father is 81. I have always thought that I would have to take the car keys away from him one day. He still drives good , but I know that it is an eventuality. Now I know that I will one day need to take his pistol as well. He keeps it locked in a mini vault, ( that I provided), but one day he wont be able to, or shouldn't, fire his gun. Physical or mental impairment can happen suddenly or over a long period of time. Old age can be cruel. This will happen to me, and the rest of us, one day.
But until then, keep shooting, practicing and concealing.
