War is not the ugliest of things. Worse is the decayed state of moral feeling which thinks nothing is worth a war. A man who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which he cares for more than his personal safety, is a miserable creature who has no chance of being free. -J.S. Mill

I chose 16 hours, which is a bit of a stretch really. If I don't have school that day it's true.
If I do have school that day I would have to subtract 4 or 8 hours depending on the day.

It's hard to say for me, but if I'm out, I carry.

I carry all waking hours, except shortly after rising when I check email and shower. But a gun is close by.... and even closer when I'm sleeping.

If my pants are on I am armed, I would say at least 16hrs. Sometimes more, for example the other day I fell asleep on the couch and was there for about 6 hrs, so that day I was armed 24hrs. I usually only sleep about six hours so actually as an average I am armed 18hrs a day and the other 6 there is a pistol under my head.
Since I retired, as soon as my jeans go on, the pistol goes into the holster. At night, it's on the bedside table. When I'm lounging around, there's one beside the couch and another in a drawer of the computer desk.
I only sleep about 4-6 hours a day. I have my gun on me all day, and when I'm not wearing it, it's sitting next to me within a foot. When I sleep, I have two guns within arms reach. If I get up, I put it on before I even go to the bathroom. I put 16 because I couldn't put any more than that.
I recently cahnged my attitude regarding carrying at home.
I work from home, but a home invasion is a real threat and it only takes 1-2 seconds to break down a door, ask my neighbors in a NICE & SAFE part of town. That only gives me time to draw - not reach into a drawer or chamber a round into the pump 12 ga.
Of course many of our situations and responsibilities vary.
Being the sole providor & protector (with God's guidance) of my two grandchildren, I feel I would be ir-responsible if not prepared 24/7/365
I carry at home now and feel much better for it.

...if not...be prepared to meet Mr.10mm, .45, .40 or any one of their little brothers.
I carry on in the morning on the way to work... then after work until I get home ... I take it off but it is never farther than 2 steps from me while at home. I live alone for the time being so no issues there. Any time I leave the office/house it is back on!

I'm one of the fortunate folks who work at a relatively small company with no policy. I've brought up firearm ownership before with no negative comments, both the owner and manager are active hunters.
Only time I'm not carrying is gov't buildings, which I mainly find myself in when I buy a new handgun. Go figure.
