Discourage self-ordained citizen police for their and the public's safety

The case of vigilante justice at a shopping mall last Wednesday afternoon is a good example of why taking criminal matters into your own hands is a dangerous idea.
The harrowing episode involved a pistol-wielding passer-by's attempt to break up a fight between strangers feuding with road rage.
In the parking lot outside the Brandywine Town Center occupants of two cars, who claimed the other car cut them off, began physically fighting.
Shoppers called police but before troopers could get there, a 58-year-old man brandished a pistol and ordered the trio to "get to the ground," according to court records.
According to police he told his "suspects" he had every right to have a gun and did not need to prove he was a police officer or show identification as one of them requested.
It turned out that the weapon was unloaded. The owner could not produce a license for a concealed weapon, a requirement of state law.
Even if he produced a license and the weapon was loaded, he still faced no immediate threat from the fighting suspects. So it was not a case of self-defense.
Police arrested and charged him with felony aggravated menacing, possession of a firearm during a felony as well as carrying a concealed deadly weapon and disorderly conduct.
Despite his good intentions, the passer-by took a serious gamble with the lives of the shoppers and others in that parking lot. Suppose his enraged "suspects"were armed as well. He had no way of knowing.
Never any shortage of idiots is there?
There's quite a difference between doing the right thing and acting like Captain America.
This guy didn't see the difference.
There's a difference between stepping in when 3 people are fighting (mutual combat) and when 2 guys are beating on someone else (assault). From the sounds of it, this wasn't a case in which he should have stepped in with a gun.
The only thing that stops bad guys with guns is good guys with guns. SgtD
This incident will be tabulated by the Brady people yet another ding against us.
Moronic actions like this no doubt MallNinja are why people fear folks who have desire to carry guns on the street and who are not law enforcement and/or having passed all manner of testing, certification, evaluation.
There are just a lot of stupid and crazy and moronic people out there.
People need to self police themselves.
Don't be in the street fighting with others over getting cut off on the MLK Blvd.
As well don't be running up on folk gun in hand making like Roscoe P. Coltrane and being half as smart.
It's simple, just act right.
58 year old man attempting to stop a pile of teens from fighting... with an unloaded pistol?
Lucky he survived, never mind being arrested.
Guy should have called 911 to report a fight... wrote down plate numbers perhaps... be a good witness. With the prevalence of camera phones these days, might even have gotten a photo.
Draw and order these guys to the ground? I don't think so. A concealed weapon does not make you a law enforcement officer!
Liberty is an inherently offensive lifestyle. Living in a free society guarantees that each one of us will see our most cherished principles and beliefs questioned and in some cases mocked. It's worth it.
What a jerk...he failed to show his CCW badge!
Proverbs 27:12 says: “The prudent see danger and take refuge, but the simple keep going and suffer for it.”

When you’re wounded and left on Afghanistan’s plains,
And the women come out to cut up what remains,
Just roll to your rifle and blow out your brains,
And go to your God like a soldier.
If he had a permit/liscence he woulda known that was a BAD idea.
I believe a lot of permitting exercises and fees are to make people, somewhat, prove they are serious about something and will not take it lightly.
Ya can't just hand things out to everybody. If you have to work for it you value ti a bit more. Or at least I do.
This is mine. That is yours.
Lets keep it that way.
i would have dailed 911,then sit back and enjoy the show, too see who
would win the stupididy contest.(i guess the dummy with the gun won
