I carry, for the safety and security of both myself and my family members. Any adjustments made are for reasons of concealment, not for reasons of "keeping the peace." The question of not carrying for spurious P.C. excuses never comes up.Originally Posted by David in FL

My wife and I went to Northern Virginia for our nephew's graduation from high school. I agreed to her request that I did not carry at a dinner in a restaurant the night before with her sister, brother-in-law, brother-in-law's mother, and others.
Virginia requires open carry in restaurants where alcohol is served.
She did not want to upset the brother-in-laws mother, since one of her grandsons (around 12 at the time, I think) had swiped a firearm from his natural father (in South Dakota), smuggled it on to a plane back to Virginia, and had shot to death one of his cousins. I agreed not to take my friend with me that time.
She announced after the graduation that I carried, setting things up for the next time we go to dinner there.
Down here in Florida (and every where else) she assumes that I carry it every place that is legal.
It might be soon - I am looking at a job there.
