    Question Florida CCW question...

After going through the conceal weapons training - one of the requirements for CCW, is there a time period to send in your application forms for your CWP? I heard that your conceal weapon
training certificates expires within 6 weeks. Is this true?

I sure the Cert is good for a year [NRA one anyway].
The best thing is to call them in FL with any questions. I called before and they were very plesant.

I never heard of any time restraint, let us know what you find out.

I don't see anything on the application instructions on page 3 about it. http://licgweb.doacs.state.fl.us/app...structions.pdf

My Florida CCW was returned because they wanted it signed by a LEO. Have to be reprinted and submit the card again.

I recall having to apply w/in 60 days of your training date, but I can't find the reference. I know that's the timeframe I worked with in submitting mine.

Odd that they would require you to apply within a limited time; are you going to forget what you learned.......what if you forget after you have your license???
My sons used a certificate they received for a hunter's safety course instead of taking the concealed weapons course (which was within the instructions they gave with the applications), and they took the Hunter's Safety course in the 1980's !

Looked through my materials couldn't find any mention of having to meet a time frame after a training course.

Only deadline I saw was about paying for you electronic finger prints within 30 days if you didn't pay in person.

You are talking on the fingerprint card right? That was the only place for a LEO to sign..the agency doing your prints had to be filled in the spot labeled EMPLOYER and then the person doing your prints had to sign on the card and not the app..

I'm not aware of a timeline after your training, but why would you wait anyway?

Thanks for all the inputs. I took the conceal weapons training two years ago, then 2 weeks later I was send to Kenya, just got in 2 months ago. I was getting conflicting feedback about the requirements. I guess I will give the local PD a call to see what the real deal is. Thanks for all the suggestions...

Don't call the PD, they rarely know the ins and outs of getting the permit. Call the office that handles applications. They have their contact info on the 'net. They have always been noted for being courteous, knowledgeable and have all the correct info.

There is NO time period on the training certificate but if you get your fingerprints done you have 30 days to send it in or you have too re-do the fingerprints only . Your passport pics can not be older than 6 months old . You should do your fingerprints online at your local sheriff's office and you'll get your cwp within 2-3 weeks instead of the 90 day period by sending them in .

Kenya is a tough place to be these days!

Firearm/self-defense law has changed a bit in FL since you left. Depending on how well you've been able to keep up with things back here, it may be worth your time to retake the class just to familiarize yourself with the changes...... Just a thought.

    Welcome back!

You will need to contact the Dept. of Agriculture for you information.
