Had to disarm in front of the town cop today
I had to go into the local little bank with the license bureau inside also and there was one of those stupid no gun signs. Out I went and parked next to my vehicle is Joe the town Chief of Police. So I pulled out my Sig and stuck it under some stuff in my vehicle and locked it up. I heard him joking on the radio that the guy next to him just pulled a gun. There was really no way to hide it. We got to talking and he commented that he remembered when my license renewal paper work came up before him a couple of months ago and commented about me being nice about honoring the sign on the bank. He said most folks ignore them. I commented that sure the crooks do but my friends that carry don't. I'm glad I don't bank there as the women's employees attitude in there sucks. They just don't get that they are not safer.

That right there's funny stuff---kinda like our revenue department here! LOL. Good to know you and the law are on a personal level like that. Priceless. Keep setting the good example.

I think that one reason that LEOs are more friendly to us ... at least up here ... is that they have come to realize that we follow the rules.

After I was stationed in Germany where even the farmers live in town my wife and I decided to never live in town again. The town of Blair where I was at today has 894 people in it and we live SE of town out in the country on 20 acres but our address is Blair. Man I love being able to shoot off my front porch, shoot cats, skunks & opossums where ever they bother me and all the other country stuff. All except having horses which is my wife & daughters big thing. I'll stick with enjoying hunting, shooting and my ATVs. I do have to admit I do enjoy a good relationship with law enforcement in the local towns and county. My soon to be ex son-in-law works for the sheriff as a jailer and can't seem to get any higher then that and probably won't last much longer there. At least I hope not because it gets in the way of being friends with his coworkers.

+1. We farm outside a small town in Iowa. 750 people, great little town. Local law enforcement know everyone sooner or later. I also love walking out my back porch and taking a leak if I feel like it.Deron

I was stationed at Altus twice. 1990-91 (16 mos), 1996-97 (11 mos, then got out).

What do you country folk do for a living in a town with 900 people?

How do you figure he knows this?
I don't notice many signs in Massachusetts. I think they figure permits are so restrictive, nobody really carries. I honestly feel most folks would be surprised to learn there is a provision under law to legally carry.
He sounds like a great guy, the kind you want to be in all towns, big or small. We could use more like him.

I rarely need to disarm in my car, but I keep a towel under the seat to cover the pistol if necessary. Someone could see I was obviously hiding something, but could only guess what it was...

I live in a rural community of 900. Like most folks I drive to the city 15 miles away to go to work. However, it is well worth the drive.

I own a pest control company and we have a town 7 miles from my house that has 25,000 people. My wife is a civil service C-17 electrician. We are both retired Air Force. We also have some land and used to raise some cattle but lease it out now. As for cats, I hate them.
They kill a lot of quail, rabbits and other wild life. I don't want them bringing their fleas and ticks around my ranch. I used to have a cow dog that would eat cats but she got old and died. Our cow dog now was raised around cats and couldn't care less if they are in the barn.
By the way Ipack I don't ever hardly take a leak inside. I live far enough from the road (326 yards) that I can go in my front yard.
My 6 year old son does the same thing. I just got to convince him to quit when women are around messing with their horses.
