CCW Application Lament
At the end of the year last year, I decided to apply. So on December 31 (that's not a federal holiday, right?) I went to my local sheriff's office, only to find a sign that they had closed for New Year's Eve.
The next Monday (it basically has to be Mondays they way they're set up), I went out in the snow and visited the office, to find a sign that they had closed early due to snow.
The next week, I finally made it in, filled everything out, and was told it was taking a while for everything to go through, so it might be a couple of months.
Today (4 weeks later) I get The Call. It's ready. Come in, get a picture taken, have it laminated, and good to go.
So I go in...and they tell me the camera broke earlier that day, they'll have to call me when it's fixed.

Ah well, I wasn't in the mood for nachos tonight anyway.

That would be government "inaction" or government in action - not sure which. Anyway, congratulations on the new permit.

You should be happy with 4 weeks! Here in NY it's 4 months+!

4 weeks rocked. Having it in my hands, signing it, and having to hand it BACK until they could take the photo to add was the problem :(

Sounds like quite the run of bad luck. But at least you know it's approved and just waiting for a functioning camera. That seems like an odd way to do it though. The Sheriff here in Clermont County gathers all the relevant info during your initial visit.

That sounds pretty good actually, despite your scheduling/equipment conundrums.
In my state they have to issue in 30 days. To slow you down, they make you schedule appointments for filling out the application and submitting your finger prints. This makes it about a sixty day process in my county.

Man-O-Man! Well... at least now you know it should be fixed in a week or so - That gives you time to get all gussied up for your picture!

Let's see if anyone can beat this. Back in 1999 I lived in Puerto Rico. My gun permit (not CCW) took 11 months. When it finally arrived it was not mine. It belonged to another guy 10 minutes from me. It took me 2 more months to sort it out. So that's a year and a month total. Insane!

You scared me for a second... I've had that graphic for years! It's actually an animated gif. If you would like a copy, fire me an email (pun intended).
(I like your photo too!)

Well, look at the bright side, things have to improve, cause they couldn't get a whole lot worse.
