I carry a BUG while traveling hours on end in a vehicle as it is simply easier to get to the BUG in pocket carry then my normal IWB or ankle.

I have also carried a BUG as a primary for my wife for events when she is not able to carry.

I also typically do not carry extra mags because I also agree that a reload is not a viable consideration. If I get myself into a situation where I need a reload I have made a fatal error.

    Primary carry: 1911
    Backup Keltec P3AT
Two spare mags for the 1911

One is none, two is one. I'd rather be bothered by the little extra weight in the unlikely event I'd ever need 'em...than to need them and not have them.

    Why carry TWO guns?

For one reason, because I can. I like to wear pants with big pockets so I have a place to put all my stuff. It happens fairly often that I have room to spare so in goes my BUG. My PM9 isn't overly large or heavy so it's no burden to carry.

Another reason, the "whatif" scenerio. A game my wife likes to play that also gets me thinking at times. "What if this happens...what if that happens?" What ChuglyXJ said about carrying it for his wife as a primary covers this reason. Say you're in a bad situation wouldn't it be nice to have a weapon for someone to watch your back?

Also it's a reassuring feeling to stick your hand in your pocket and instantly be ready.

    A+ to that.
I always carry a reload for my primary. Same as I have a spare tire in each of my cars. Its called redundant safety equipment. Its there if you need it.

I carry a BUG probably 40% - 50% of the time in my small rural town of 3,000 people and probably greater than 80% of the time when outside of my town.

    Here are my usual combinations:

    Glock 23 & XD9sc (most frequent)
    XD9sc & Ruger SP-101 (2nd most frequent)
    Glock 23 & Ruger SP-101
    Ruger Speed Six 3" & Ruger SP-101
Two Ruger SP-101's (New York Reload)

    On rare occasions
    ParaOrdnance P-12 & Ruger SP-101
    Colt Officers .45 & XD9sc

    Three gun combo
    G-23, XD9sc & SP-101

Dan Wesson CBOB and a KelTec P3AT most times, atire permitting. Without going into details, I can always get to one or the other with either hand.
The keys to winning a gunfight are first to bring a gun and secondly to take your time, quickly.

Always remember that if your opponent is within range, so are you.
