    Ammo Carry

Where do you all carry extra ammo, naturally this is only for those of you that do. What do you carry it in, and where at? I've meant to ask this for awhile and keep forgetting. I carry 2 spare mags for whatever I am carrying on my belt. My favoite is a galco leather one for my 1911 magazines, so that it keeps it high, but someone spotted it the other day and let me know it was printing through my coat (I had pulled it tight over them and they were back behind my hip). I also have a nylon / velcro closed one by another maker I don't remember for everything else. Not too fond of it, but it works.

Brommeland double mag pouch, off-side. Helps balance the load too.

My belt is just too darned full of stuff - no room normally for mag pouch, tho I have a single clip-on Galco I aquired, which is OK sometimes.

Otherwise, if going out and feeling the need - it's a case of best pocket to suit the day. One mag usually.

I carry my extra mags in my cargo pants pockets - nothing else is in the pockets except the mags.

I often wear dungaree style pants which offer slender side pockets between the knee and waist. I usually carry an extra mag in the weak side pocket. However, never carry the mag with the cartridges facing down. You will pull your mag out, load it into the pistol, and notice that there are very few if any cartridges still in the mag.

I find that being of small - avereage build it can be challenging to carry a mag pouch on a belt. If I wear a mag pouch, SOG multi-tool, and a 1911 IWB it looks as is my waist is about 10 inches larger than it should be.

My bottom line is this - however you carry an extra mag, make sure that the cartridges stay put under any situation.

I use a leather single magazine pouch for my .45's and be it my Milt Sparks or Galco, there's not much difference.

I have one leather single magazine pouch made by TT Gunleather that's IWB... it's really quite nice and conceals exceptionally well!

I'm amazed that more people don't carry in something designed for it. I just thought it would be more the norm. I do carry a pair of magazines in my pocket, or one, in addition to the ones on my belt - sometimes they go in outergarments if they won't be in danger of comming out and or they may assist in keeping the garment from flopping around. Haven't had any rounds come out yet, and hadn't thought of that one at all - but it does make me think now.

For my Revolvers I carry two reloads in a Digital Camera Case on the strongside. It doesn't look "gunny" and does a good job packing the bullets.

For "bottomfeeders" I carry one reload in various magazine carriers. For my Glock 19 I use a horizontal carry pouch. The Kahr has the typical belt pouch holding the magazine vertically.

I also keep a reload or two in the strongside pocket for my J-Frame.
