Group Wants Guns On College Campuses - Survey
It's an idea picking up steam around the country and in San Diego County, especially in light of recent campus shootings, including the slaying of six students last week at Northern Illinois University that killed five students and the gunman.

Voted. It wasn't worded very well. Would it prevent shootings - nothing would prevent entirely as we know, but it would certainly bring the numbers down IMHO as students could stop the killer before LEO showed. What they're doing now certainly isn't working. Yes: 264 No: 319 .

Voted, even though I am not sure the wording is correct. Do I believe carrying will stop campus shootings? - well, it certainly isn't going to hurt and it might deter some crazies from doing it. More importantly, it might stop them sooner, especially before they turned to me.
"a reminder that no law can replace personal responsibility" - Bill Clinton 2010.
The wording is horrible. I don't believe that allowing concealed carry on campus would have prevented either the NIU or VaTech shootings. These were done by folks who just weren't right in the head, and who had an ax to grind.
The reason concealed carry should be allowed on campus - just as everywhere else - is so that individuals who desire to take responsibility for their own safety, will be able to carry the tools which give them the best chance to do so should some nut-job with an ax to grind decide to open up in their classroom.
Simple, logical arguments are the only arguments that have any chance to be effective against the emotional drivel the antis use to sway the undecided to their way of thinking.
"It is only as retaliation that force may be used and only against the man who starts its use. No, I do not share his evil or sink to his concept of morality: I merely grant him his choice, destruction, the only destruction he had a right to choose: his own." - John Galt, from Atlas Shrugged
Agree wording is bad. The whole article, title is typical anti-rights crowd bias. Article makes it sound like we'll be handing guns out to every pimple faced 18 year old Freshman not just allowing CCW holders the right already granted most everywhere else.
I have seen many of these articles and they all have the same darn title, "Should Guns be Allowed on College Campuses". Keep watching. This is the media's way of getting to the emotional, knee-jerk reaction folks who don't know the true premise of what we are all trying to accomplish. And unfortunately I think it works well in that regard.
The old sheriff was attending an awards dinner when a lady commented on his wearing his sidearm. 'Sheriff, I see you have your pistol. Are you expecting trouble?' 'No Ma'am. If I were expecting trouble, I would have brought my rifle.'
