Looks like no offense for not informing a "designated employee"...I hope that sentence gets stripped out....stupid requirement.

How do we identify the designated employee?

I guess we will have to look for the employee with the “Right to Bear Arms” button.
Ahhh, what an awful dream. Ones and zeros everywhere... and I thought I saw a two.

Hear, hear! It's an idiotic requirement. What are they going to do, put up a picture of the employee? What if s/he is not working?

    It's about time!

Looks like we finally get to carry concealed in VA in a restaurant that serves alcohol - if Gov. Kaine signs the bill. I've been open carrying in situations where the lovely bride and I went to, say, Chili's, for dinner - which involved simply un-tucking my IWB tucakable. I have not had any hassles yet, but the whole purpose of carrying concealed, in my opinion, is to carry concealed.

Can you imagine the number of managers that will freak out and call the police when they are told that there is a person carrying a concealed weapon in their restaurant. I wonder how the police will respond? This law is going to create a nightmare. It was a good idea until they amended it and added the "notify employee" provision.

The law does not say "when" you have to notify the employee. I guess it can be as you are drawing your gun in self defense.

    What a stupid amendment!

Nope; I read some of the discussion on OCDO, and it was suggested that, since it doesn't specify when notification should happen, you could just mention it as you're heading out or something..."Thanks for the wonderful service, and, uh, I'm carrying. Have a nice day." Or you could write it on the receipt or something...

Here's hoping it gets final passage and approval for the good folks in VA.
