"Tuttleje... your comment is a bit concerning and I hope you've considered the legal ramifications of what would ever happen if you were in a restaurant/bar drinking and something ever happened that you needed to use your gun. Could be anyone not just you but it brings a good point to light. (DONT DO IT!!!) "

I fully agree that someone who carries a gun should not drink an alcoholic beverage under any circumstance. I spent 34 years in law enforcement and I can truthfully say that I never consumed an alcoholic beverage while I was armed. The comment was made to drive home the point that one should not drink any amount of alcohol while armed.

Yep, until I got my CHP I used to keep it in plain sight (not hidden from common observation) in a shoulder holster.

This bugs the heck out of me. This is what we get for having MD Annex (NoVa).

Like JD I am not particularly upset that he vetoed the bill. I will just continue to open carry in resturants until we get a decent bill passed.

If you are a Virginia resident (and I see from the profiles many of us are), please email, or call both you Senator and delegate.

Be sure to include your bonifides.

I did. My wife did. Etc.

We have a tight window to get it done.

    We need to remember.

OTOH, I'm tired of voting against the worst choice.

just sent off emails to Senator Newman and Delegate Valentine. The latter voted against the restaurant one (SB 476). I asked her to share her opinions on it with me.

I asked both of them to discuss it with the other senators/delegates and override that wolf in sheep's clothing

*sigh*. ... just another example of one of our elected hero’s at work. The House has a better chance of overriding the veto of SB 436 (carry concealed in a vehicle) then SB 476 (allow people to carry into restaurants under certain conditions). That way both sides can claim a (shallow) victory

    Email Virginia Governor Tim Kaine

Tim Kaine vetoed 2 important peices of legislation aimed at restoring the 2A rights of Virginians.

Senate Bill 436 Concealed carry in vehicles
Senate Bill 476 Concealed carry in restaurants

Please email Governor Kaine by using the form below to express your displeasure with his dismissal of the clear desire of the elected general assembly and his denial of Virginians 2A rights.

So what is the time frame before the General Assembly takes up vetoed bills?
