Gun on campus in MN - hypothetical

so I figured I'd start my own...

In Minnesota, as a visitor to a university campus (i.e. neither a student or an employee), it is perfectly legal for me to carry onto campus. Given this, do any of you think that the same thing that happened in GA - campus "lock down", search for a "gunman", etc - wouldn't happen if my gun were ever seen, even if it was only printing? Obviously, concealed means concealed - I understand that and would of course follow that principle as much as possible. But given the heightened state of awareness on college & university campuses today, how likely do you think an over-reaction to a permit holder seen carrying would be?

How do they know you have a permit? How does anyone know it is valid?

It actually legal for students and staff to carry on MN Univ and college campuses just they would be fired or expelled if found out.

I have carried at the Univ of Minn no problem. Keep it concealed with a good carry garment and no problem. All they can do is ask you to leave and if they do you leave. You would not be breaking any law as long as you do leave when asked.

Just like a plain close cop or Fed that’s on campus for one reason or another. Keep it concealed and no one is ever going to know.

Yes, I do think it would lead to a lock down and search for a gunman. That of course does not mean you have done anything illegal but you'd have some explaining to do I am sure. The U of MN for example bars guns on campus by anyone. They don't have a legal leg to stand on but that does not stop the administration from trying to push their agenda anyway. Also I believe that staff can carry they just must first get permission from someone in charge which is not going to happen.

I would not be suprised if the over reaction involved our intrepid CCWer getting shot by an over zealous swat team. There is a little bit of hysteria going around right now. Don't expect a reasoned dialog on the finer pionts of the law. Not saying this WOULD happen. Just a very increased likelyhood of this right now.
