I'll have to test that with an AR and shottie, when I have some disposable income
Maybe it'd help if I got one of those "Hello Kitty" design ARs I've seen...I could say it's for our daughter
Of course, I'll catch all kinds of hell when I end up taking it to a 3-gun match...
And to keep this from veering off topic...any particular reason for Miami Dade College? You've also got UCF in Orlando, USF in Tampa, U. of FL in Gainseville, FSU in Tallahassee, and if you're a geek like me, FloridaTech in Melbourne. I'm sure there are loads of other smaller schools that I've missed, too, like U. of Tampa, FIU, etc.
Trying to express an angry voice: Do i look like a geek?!
well, MDC for that seems to be closer to the beach then Tampa and Tallahassee- but that might just be on the map!?
I can choose from DeLand,West PB,Tampa,St.Leo and Coral Gables.
And then I want to see the sea from where I might find a house..
I never judge by appearances. Most people would look at me and think I'm some kinda hippy. Or Native American. I get that a LOT.
Tampa and Tallahassee are on the Gulf coast...but a beach is still a beach, and you won't be able to tell.
I haven't lived in Tampa for over ten years, but my family is still there. The place has grown tremendously in the time I've been gone. Plus, you're not necessarily limited to living in Tampa if you're going to school there...Brandon, Clearwater, St. Petersburg are all close enough, depending on what school you go to and what commute you're content on dealing with. Obviously, you're intended course of study will also be a big factor on choosing a school.
Actually, since you're intent on living close to water, Brandon may be out of the picture. Tampa, Clearwater, and St. Pete are either on the Gulf Coast directly, or on a peninsula into a bay leading to the Gulf, so they're viable options in that regard.
There is a good selection of schools in FL, covering most areas of study that you can think of. Hell, a girl I know was going to USF to study 'music therapy' of all things.
Here is a link for some cost of living comparisions...

Springfield EMP 4 Lightweight Champion,
that was a very useful link, thanks a lot..but why is it such a big difference between Miami and Tallahassee In % and average living costs? Its 25% cheaper to live in Tallahassee.....
Cause we got world famous beaches in Miami!!! If you can affor coral gables I'd say go for it. Its true though traffic is really bad down here in the 305. There are a couple of naighborhoods as nice as gables though for a bit less money. MDC is really good considering its not a large university. I actually go to FIU, my sis is bout to graduate UM. What will your course of study be?
I would have to admit, from actually living in Tallahassee for the past 15 years, that you would probably hate it in Tallahassee. There are no nice beaches within an hour drive (2 hours minimum to Panama City Beach) and there are very few places to shoot. Lots of bars, clubs and colleges though.
Try Idaho. Easy to get CCW if you have no baggage, and you don't deserve the right if you have had trobles with the law or govt.
I'm a local and straight shooter, and had mine in 3 weeks after background check.
Can I store a gun in the glove box of the car in both TX and FL?
There are two sides to every issue: one side is right and the other is wrong, but the middle is always evil.
Who is John Galt?
I posted a link in a different thread, but it seems Florida allows car carry w/o a CCW permit. Search this page from the Lee County Sherriff's Office for the word 'vehicle'.
