OHIO MEMBERS... Our shot at a Castle Doctrine is coming up for vote.

It was supposed to get voted on yesterday but due to a conflict it was postponed until next month most likely.

    3/13/08

Committee chairman Tim Grendell has run into an unexpected, unavoidable conflict this week that necessitates a postponement of this week's Senate hearings. Nothing will be scheduled until next month when the legislature is back in session.

Ohio “Castle Doctrine” Bill Scheduled for Hearing!

The House Criminal Justice Committee will again be accepting opponent/proponent testimony on House Bill 264.

House Bill 264, sponsored by State Representative Lynn Wachtmann (R-75) would preserve an individual’s right to respond with force in self-defense or defense of family, without fear of civil lawsuits by criminals. Please make plans to attend this important hearing to help protect the right to self-defense for all the law-abiding citizens of Ohio.

    COMMITTEE: HOUSE CRIMINAL JUSTICE

    CHAIRMAN: STATE REPRESENTATIVE JOHN WHITE

    DATE: SOMETIME IN APRIL

If you are unable to attend, please contact members of the House Criminal Justice Committee today and urge them to support HB 264. Contact information for the House Criminal Justice Committee is listed below:

Those of you in Ohio may want to be dropping a dime to some of your State Legislators.

This really does need to pass. It would also be great if we could get some better laws in regards to transportation of a firearm...

Those are in the works. There is a bill that has been introduced that will eliminate the need to notify LE when carrying, no need to carry your permit when carrying, eliminate the need to carry in a locked, zippered, latched, buckled... approved container when traveling in a car.....

Lot's of good stuff on the horizon here in Ohio, we just need to get off out butts and make sure our reps understand that this needs to pass.

Is that in the Senate or the House? Can you give me the Bill # of that legislation?

I dont really have an issue informing law enforcement, or carrying my permit, but the transportation rules...well...they do need revamping, thats for sure.

House bill 184 senate bill 284. I was there both in February and also this month, didn't know it had been cancelled the day before. I won't be able to be there in April. I have my testimony on paper and will submit it that way. If they have a hearing in May, I'll be there. A word to those who car.. the FOP is opposed, but the street officer is a proponent.. go figure.
