Question to fellow Kentuckians
I walk at a city park quite often and there is one area of the park that use to be posted. It's a new area. I noticed a few weeks ago they took down the "no guns sign". My understanding of the Ky regulations is that cities can only restrict guns in buildings in city parks, not areas of the park. Anyone know if this is true.
I figured the city HAD TO take the signs down because it wasn't legal to post an area of the park that wasn't a building.

Kentuckycarry- I am not 100% sure about this, so maybe you should ask the local sheriff. I am under the understanding that schools/colleges/universities can prohibit the carry of a weapon not only into their buildings, but onto the land that they control. BUT, a local government can only prohibit the carry of a weapon in to a building. No mention of land. In fact, you CAN carry in a highway rest area. (Kentucky Revised Statues).
Hope this helps (from an eastern Kentuckian)

I'm not sure about buildings within a park, but KY has a pre-emption law that specifically forbids for local governments to create such zones.

Yes this is true , they can only regulate buildings on their groung not the actual park itself. This was talked about on another site I frequent also.

Thanks for the replies. I believe it only pertains to buildings too. Gotta love Ky.
