    Does running license show CCW?

I had a question, it probably varies state-by-state.

I wondered if when you get pulled over, and the cop runs your license, does CCW show up? I was told it shows up in red letters by my buddy but he isn't very credible.

    Thanks!

In most areas, yes. Here in Ohio, it does show up in red letters FWIW.

I'm pretty sure it does in Kansas as your DL number and your CCH number are identical.

In Texas it does show up. Here in Texas you are required to show your CHL if you are pulled over only if you are carrying. Many people (including LEOs) have said it is a good idea to provide that documentation regardless if you are carrying or not, as they would rather ask the question "Are you carrying?" right then, instead of going back to their patrol car, and having to come back to your car in a high state of awareness, not knowing whether you are or not.

Yes it does in all states if the LEO runs a search on national level.

I'm not sure what you mean. Are you saying that my FL CWP is somehow hooked in with a national database?

Alabama permits are issued by the Sheriff of the County in which you reside. They are not associcated with your DL in anyway and the records are kept by your county, not the State. Alabama is a May Issue state with the deciding body being the sheriff

They do show up in Tennessee.
But it is rather unnerving to find out after the fact. I would much rather someone had me their carry license (here, a Handgun Carry License) up front, then me find out about it later.

Yes and no. If your state has a CCW linked to your drivers license, then yes. I can access other states BMV/DMV records and if your CCW is part of that, then yes, I'll see it.

    Same for Montana.

It does show up in Arkansas also. I don't know about the big red letters but they say when they have someone pulled over if they have one.

I listen to a scanner when I'm on the computer.

In Colorado, as I understand it, there is a CCW database available to LEOs in which your automobile registration is flagged as owned by a CO Concealed Weapons Permit holder. The permit is issued by your county Sheriff; some counties (including mine) update the database with permit information, some don't. So data for some CO CWP holders is in the database.

For the CO CWP holder: If a CO LEO pulls your vehicle over, runs the license plate number, and your permit data is in the database, the officer will be aware that the owner is a permittee.

In Colorado, however, that information is slightly irrelevant because anyone who can legally own a handgun may legally have it loaded and concealed in the vehicle, no permit necessary (just like at home). So any vehicle could contain a handgun.
