    Headed to Florida from Texas

Can I CCW in the theme parks such as Walt Disney, Universal Studios and Sea World? Headed there tomorrow, and I want to make sure I am squared away. Any help will be appreciated.

I am pretty sure the mouse house is off limits to ccw. I would assume that the others are too. :(

I would not count on carrying in the parks. Sometimes they run metal detectors and strict security at the gates.

    Cool

    Not supposed to.
I do believe that's one of the areas Texans have it up on Floridians.

There is no prohibition in Florida law from carrying at the theme parks with a valid CWFL.

Disney, Universal and SeaWorld all do rudimentary bag checks on the way in. With the exception of the Halloween special events at Universal, I've never seen metal detectors at any of the parks.

    But...

If you are discovered, you will in all probability be asked to leave. At that point, doing anything but proceeding immediately to the exit of the property may get you a charge of armed trespass, which is a felony in Florida.

    And...

Even if you carry into the Disney parks (as an example), there is almost never a safe backstop. What looks like a stone wall is really a thin fiberglass sheath over a metal frame - with a few thousand kids behind it.

IMHO, it's a very poor place to try and deploy a firearm defensively. Chemical or contact defensive implements would be a far better choice, again in my opinion.

Blame it on Sixto - now that is a viable plan.

quick question...dont want to make a new thread

but what do you guys do when you carry and are not allowed to take a gun into a building?...just lock it in your car/truck?

Reason I ask is because I would really like to carry daily but I never know when I'll go to the bar with friends. We all might be out somewhere and then decide to grab a beer or something. What do you guys do in that situation?

you mention lock box...is there a way to bolt it to your floor and have easy access?

I have 2 keyed alike. I have heard of some people bolting them down. I tie the cable to the under seat hardware.

On one of the few occasions that I can't carry into a 'place'...I use a Center of Mass safe with a cable connected under a flip-up seat in the back (hard to find).

Not illegal to carry, they just don't like it...they will ask you to leave, but concealed is concealed...it's only coming out if you need it anyway, like to or from the car in the lot!

If I can not carry, I always just lock it in the truck. But, then again, with the exception of school grounds, I am almost always carrying it, because I never go to a bar; instead go to restaurants that also serve adult beverages.

As to Mickey Mouse City, living nearby we visit there about twice a year, and I always carry a “mouse” gun, in my pocket.

But, like Matt Larson said. Be real careful about using it, there or any tourist place where they are a lot of people. It would have to be a life or death situation for me before I would.

Also, like he said, be real careful about allowing yourself to be discovered carrying, while it is not illegal, the Mickey Police will escort you off the property.

    Have a great time.

I have a "Secure-It Handgun Storage Safe" with the cable wrapped arount the seat frame. You will have to take the seat or cut the cable to take the box. It's also TSA approved if I have to FLY. I leave the box under the passenger seat so I can pull it out, place it on the passenger seat and store or remove the weapon without disconnecting the cable.

I lock mine in the center console, under the lift out tray.

I always get a laugh out of going into the theme parks in Orlando. They always check the bags (never quite sure for what - our best guess is alcohol in glass containers), but I could carry a Desert Eagle in, so long as it was concealed, as they don't use metal detectors. Now I normally don't carry for all the reasons previously listed, plus most of the rides would be massively uncomfortable with a gun in your pants.
