The cop was wrong. If you don't have this fixed by the end of business Monday your CCW your law abiding citizen status should be suspended.
    Well said and I agree!

You are even more lucky than you realise. That was an impounded vehicle and a lot of money in fines. Hell my wife had her car impounded for registration that was only expired for 1 week nothing more.

Unless you have a checking acct with 7 digit figures, go get your items up to date. My son is working on trying to collect from uninsured driver.

I do not think it would have turned out so well for you if the stop had been in Austin.
I don't know how far it is that you have to drive into Austin but that drive to work has got to be a bummer unless you work in south Austin near Stassney.

Oh, don't forget to get everything taken care of, and soon.

Yes, I lived in Austin once. Till I went into the military. 20 years and 5 countries later I'm sitting in NWFlorida.
If I can find a good job in the Austin - San Antonio area I'd be back in Texas in a heartbeat.

You need to move or change jobs. You gotta be driving about 2200 miles more or less a month of highway stop-n-go driving (exept at night time) just getting to work and back.

I agree with Pitmaster. I wouldn't have let you drive home. We would have called a tow truck or a legally licensed driver to get your car home. You are making the rest of us look bad! Per capita, the people that speed, and get off the most are people with handicapped tags. Lots of officers are picking up on that now and writing them. Don't be guilty of giving the rest of us CHL folks a bad name!! GET LEGAL AND STAY THAT WAY!!!!

Here in WA (and no, you would NOT have gotten a warning):

Failure to provide proof of motor vehicle insurance $550.00
Expired Vehicle License - Over 2 months $216.00
We don't have an inspection per se, so you would have skated on that one :)

The insurance doubles the second time, and the third time.... well, you'll be a guest of the state for a while.
