i moved from az to indiana i have an az ccw and im in the process of getting an in. permit when i went to get fingerprinted the woman doing it told me it was illegal to have 2 permits at the same time and i would be arrested if caught. i called az dps and they said as long as i keep my ccw renewed i can keep it as long as i want that they do not issue resident/non resident ccw. anybody know the truth? am i only allowed one permit at a time?

I don't know about your specific state(s) but I have heard of other folks having 2 permits. Especially a resident permit where they live and say a Florida non-resident permit. Allowing them to carry in more states.

If it is the same as Mississippi, the ones that take your application and fingerprints are not LEO. The state hires those positions out to a labor company. They probably are not very educated on what the actual law is.

In AZ you can have more than one. It is necessary to do that to carry in more states. She probably just moved over from working for the DPS where she just associates the word license with drivers license.
The old sheriff was attending an awards dinner when a lady commented on his wearing his sidearm. 'Sheriff, I see you have your pistol. Are you expecting trouble?' 'No Ma'am. If I were expecting trouble, I would have brought my rifle.'

It's like not a drivers license where in many states, you can simply exchange the one from your previous state for one from your current state. You can have a ccw license from as many states as will issue them to you.

Make sure that AZ has an updated address for you. In short, do a change of address with AZ so they don't think you are still in AZ.

I'm from Indiana and she doesn't know what she is talking about! There is nothing in the code against having an out of state permit or license. We accept any CCW, or what ever anyone has from any state or country!!! If it is legal, and it says you can carry a handgun, then carry on!!!

BTW, Welcome to a GREAT gun State!!!

She is wrongly applying her understanding toward motor vehicle operator licenses to that of handgun permits and licenses.
If you were inquiring about a drivers license then she would have been correct, but otherwise she's wrong.

    - Janq has VA and MA resident permits

Yes, she's full of baloney. The only issue I can see with moving is that you must inform the proper authorities (in MO it was the sheriff's office that issued the CCW) of your new address within a certain time frame. In my case, I moved OUT of state and thus my Missouri CCW was not valid. But my non-resident Florida still is! :)
