I guess I will have to weigh my options carefully and consider the good advice I have received. Having been a Command Security Officer of a secure military facility I know well the unfortunate outcomes of having a weapon found in a vehicle. Even though I am originally from Kansas I have no wish to visit as a guest of the federal prison system. It would seem the most prudent thing to do would be call ahead to any possible parties and see what can be done. Thanks again.

You can also park off base, and have someone come pick you up. I do and leave my pistol in the truck.

Contact the base your going to and ask if you can store it in their armory temporarily. This is what military personnel living in the barracks (dorms) must do.

Just a thought... are there any gun shops in town where maybe you could drop off your weapon? I don't know if they would even let you do that but just brainstorming.

I don't know where you're going, but it being Chesapeake, I'm betting it's in the middle of a swamp, like at Northwest Annex...

Anyway, I'd hold it for you, but I'm too far out. Maybe a club could help out if not a dealer. There is one in Chesapeake, just a ways away, near 264/664.
