    Question Disney again.

I did the search and found good info, no detectors, thin backstop ect...but I have one question that I'm hoping an Orlando member or recent visitor can answer for me. Downtown Disney, What's the area like? My wife is dragging me and the boy to Orlando next weekend and she plans on Downtown Disney for the first night. I have no intention on carrying anything but OC and a knife to the park but Downtown Disney at night....I'm thinking I might want to Carry a little more. Opinions please.

Downtown Disney is nice, but they did have some thuggery problems.

Unlike the parks, it's really just like a typical town center type of deal. I'd have no second thoughts about carrying a firearm there. In fact, I carry in Downtown Disney any time I am there in the evening.

Thanks Matt. I thought you might be the one to come through for me.
Didn't a couple get kidnapped at knifepoint from there a couple of months ago?

Down Town Disney basically just a shopping area around what looks like a man made lake. There is no admission control. Pack on.

I'd be more interested in carrying there than the park. I was in both 11 months ago. Any CC rig should waltz right through security and into the park as long as it's on body carry. They look through all the bags, even little point-and-shoot camera pouches on your belt.

Make sure your concealment is good so you don't get hassled in the park. I.E. cover it with more than a white T-shirt and watch the bending over and breezes.

As I recall, the kidnapping story turned out to be bogus. But they have had issues with miscellaneous thugs hanging out. They went on a campaign to clear them out, and hired on a bunch of off-duty Orange County Deputies.

    I still carry there, though.

Thanks for the quick advice guys. I feel a little better about going, I still rather spend the day at the range though.

Downtown Disney is actually a pretty nice place. Disney works hard to keep it family friendly and bad guy free.

I feel much safer there than on most of I-drive after dark.

My family and I are season pass holders at the mouse house. I CCW there with confidence regularly. Last weekend I had my Glock 30 IWB under a t-shirt.

Downtown Disney is a nice place to shop. Not a lot to do otherwise. You will be done with the area within a hour 2 max. Unless your wife is a shopalohic. Disney is like no other in the world. The disney property is 52-54 square miles(depends on who you ask). With all the hotel and parks and everything they the only using 1/3 of the property so far. They are talking about adding a 5th park just for adults. $250.00 addmission per day. It will open at 12.00pm and stay open until 2AM called something like Dark Kingdom. There are something like 400 different web sites honoring the Mouse.

Who in their right mind would pay $500 a couple to go to a theme park for a day?

If you stay in any of the theme hotels, and go to the park, pretty much everybody is spending $500 per couple per day. I know we spent well over $500 per day on our visit.

Thanks... now I'm thinking about the new Rock Island Armory or Springfield 1911 I could buy with the money my wife is spending on this trip.
