How many concealed people

does anyone know about how many of us there are in the USA?
Also which state has the most/least number of people with CHLs?
surely the number is growing. i know an instructor in South Texas that gives three classes a week and always about 25-30 people per class.

Don't we average like 2-3% in the states where licenses are available? I believe that % has been climbing the last year or two. now if we just knew what % of folks are eligible, we'd have an estimate...

I think it's between 1-3% IIRC in FL, but that's how many people are CHL holders. This doesn't mean they actually carry a firearm, they just have it for certain perks I assume.

PA has the most with ~600K licensed CCL holders as current issue.
The least would be DC, as it does have on the books a CCL allowance though as it is very well known being on the books means nothing toward actuality.
As second place I'd bet it's a battle between MD and NJ for the second and third least/lowest numbers.

That is true but I also understood that those three permits total were later rescinded upon public pressure.
I'll check around to reverify that though.
D.C. is on record as having a relative handful of CCL licenses issued.

hawaii is a pet peave of mine. it really irks me that they call themselves a may issue state but privately have agreed to never issue any permits under any condition. i dont know if it would be better for them to just decide to be like ILL. so maybe people could lobby to get shall issue passed there. i just dont know.

Here is some information copied from the Ohio report for 2004 through 2007.

In calendar year 2007 – the third full year of Ohio’s Concealed Handgun Law, Ohio sheriffs issued 22,103 licenses, an increase of nearly 18 percent from the previous year, analogous to 2005, and a drop of approximately 51 percent compared to the number of licenses issued in the law’s inaugural year, between April and December 2004. For calendar year 2006 – the second full year the law was in effect – Ohio sheriffs issued 18,781 regular licenses to carry concealed handguns.

This year, the sheriffs issued 66 temporary emergency licenses, which allow a person who submits evidence of imminent danger to receive a non-renewable 90-day license to carry a concealed handgun. Since the law went into effect in 2004, sheriffs have issued 109,001 regular and temporary emergency licenses to Ohioans.

as of 12/31/2007 Texas had 288,909 active license holders and 1,639 certified instructors
i would have thought we would have had a lot more than that, i think lately its increasing faster as time goes by.i hope so anyway, lets step it up Texas.

Here in North Carolina we have a little over 260,000 permit holders.
