You have to get me a permit.

So I have my resume on job boards like Monster. I specifically checked the box that says I WILL NOT relocate. Very few headhunters read that. Ugh.

So I get a call this morning from someone who couldn't speak English very well with a job offer in Massachusetts.

I told him that the only way I would work in Massachusetts is if he could meet the following conditions:

    1. $250,000/year
    2. Not pay any Massachusetts state taxes.
    3. You have to get me a carry permit.

His response? "I can't get you a gun permit!" Then he hung up on me.

Hey, if you could meet the other two, we can talk.

That's pretty funny that he singled out the gun permit. Though it seems that the other two might have been just as unlikely (don't know profession), Star 69 maybe?

    Hung up on you?

Nobody knows how to negotiate anymore.

Call him back and tell him you'll settle for the 250K and no taxes, but make sure you can use the company jet to fly to a gun friendly state every weekend. You also might want to have them set up a FTF with the Kennedy's so you can finally let Teddy know what real people think of him.

Hey, give me his number and I'll negotiate the deal for you (10% yearly retainer fee). Corner office overlooking the Cape okay?

    .

I would reverse the order; you need the gun first so you can guard your paycheck.........

Ironic.... the first two conditions were rather audacious to begin with, but it was the reference to the "evil gun" that got him all worked up

    I would have countered:

    $85000.00 a year.
    You DO pay taxes.
We'll supply you with a can of pepper spray!

    ALWAYS carry! - NEVER tell!

I'm not sure I see what you're driving at. Shouldn't we be trying to build bridges with our political opponents?

Yes, but some people believe that doing so will be the death of them and just thinking about that makes them drink too much.

Side note not to hijack the thread. If you get a job offer or hired not not fax your social security or other id to the company for health benefits. Alot of scammers hit the boards, Tell you you are hired and get your ss number. NOT GOOD

It's actually very easy to get a Non resdent MA license, as compared to living in MA and trying to get one.
The MA State Police handle and process non-resident permits, as opposed to the local townships that handle it for residents.

MA State Police process by procedure - without prejudice or personal feelings about carry.

As long as you have: $100.00, a clean record, a valid reason for carry, and fill the form out correctly, you can get a MA non-res. permit. I have mine. 3rd year now.
