I guess this is an official way of saying that if everybody behaved like CPL license holders, crime would virtually disappear in Michigan......

I've never heard of him...I was hoping the study would have been a bit more conclusive about the impact of CPL's on violent crime, but the raw statistics about crime in the ordinary population and crime with CPL's is very affirming.

Yep, it all boils down to that last paragraph on Page 10, and that reflects positively on the carry community.

A recent Detroit Free Press article has this to say about concealed carry:
Six years after new rules made it much easier to get a license to carry concealed weapons, the number of Michiganders legally packing heat hasincreased more than six-fold. But dire predictions about increased violence and bloodshed have largely gone unfulfilled, according to law enforcement officials and, to the extent they can be measured, crime statistics. The incidence of violent crime in Michigan in the six years since the law went into effect has been, on average, below the rate of the previous six years. The overall incidence of death from firearms, including suicide and accidents, also has declined.
"Shikha Hamilton of Grosse Pointe, president of the Michigan chapter of the anti-gun group Million Moms March, said she believes overall gun violence (including suicide and accidental shootings) is up in Michigan
    since 2001."
Well, don't let facts get in the way of your beliefs (or feelings)

It should not be surprising that concealed carry licensees are more law-abiding than the general population: They must successfully complete a pistol safety training course and must be certify they are law-abiding before being entrusted with such responsibility.
Comments like this make the 2A sound more like a priviledge than a right. Here I thought all were innocent until proven guilty. Looking at the world this way, everyone must be guilty of something until proven otherwise...and until you are proven "law-abiding", you shouldn't be able to carry a firearm?
