    Just turned in my application...YAY!!!

Well, I just got back from turning in my application at the Fairfax County, VA courts. Which as a side note by the way...they have revamped the place and it is a very nice looking facility.

FYI for you Fairfax County folks...I asked the lady who processed my paperwork what the average turn time has been from application to the receiving of the permit, she said over the last 90 or so days there has been a HUGE rush of people applying for their permits and the turn time has been hovering right around 45 days. She said she has been working there for years and can not remember the vast amount of applications as of late...

    Just thought that was interesting...

As an additional side note, one of the guys in my office, him and his wife who live in Loudoun County said that their permits came is just over 14 days from application. They got theirs about a week ago.

    Thoughts, comments?

45 day wait, not so good.
Lots of people applying. That's a good thing.

    Good luck

I think a lot of folks are concerned with the upcoming Presidential election. We could see the Brady crowd regain their political strength and a return of the Clinton assault rifle (and others) ban. Right now, they are targeting ammunition sales, and it would only be a matter of time before concealed carry is in their sights.

They might say 45 days just so people won't call them after two weeks complaining, and like you said, it will probably come in 14 days or so or maybe a little longer.

The waiting is the hardest part. 40 days and counting for me. I have reconsidered my carry gun, bought a new one, bought several hostlers, read a ton on forums like this, practiced carrying at the house, etc. etc. etc.

Why does waiting for this seem to take forever, but yet the i seem to be getting older by the minute?

Tx is seeing this same thing to the point they cannot keep up with state mandated times for approval/disapproval . I suspect that more states could say the same , but only tx ( as far as i know ) is reporting it , it was in the dallas paper and iirc the huston paper . so if you want the articles you test your google foo .
Make sure you get full value out of today , Do something worthwhile, because what you do today will cost you one day off the rest of your life .

I haven't received mine yet, but our wait is no more than 120 days. That sucks.

45 days is the state requirement. Prince William county took about 30 days.

45 days....better than 90, and certainly better than 120, good grief....

Congrats getting the stuff in. :)
It is utterly illogical to believe that passing laws to reduce gun violence will be successful when those who are commiting the gun violence do not obey the law.

The more people that apply, the longer it is going to take, which can be good and bad I suppose. Having to wait 3-5 months just to legally carry a handgun can be frustrating while the criminals are already carrying guns without waiting. I got my permit in 5 days, which sort of took me by surprise, but I'm not complaining.
