So if they had a NO WEAPONS policy, what would the difference be between a knife or a gun?

Wish I could although I work in the peoples republic of MD and on a Military site to boot and they sort of frown on that.

Our company policy says we are not to bring weapons onto company property. My pocket knife. My P30, myself (after 10 years of martial arts) all qualify. I know I'm not the only one in our small office who carries a pocket knife.

If they find out I have my P30 with me, and make an issue of it. I'll offer to work from home 100% of the time since complying with the policy to the letter of the law says I shouldn't bring myself into the office.

Since one of the three owners is my father in law, I doubt it'll ever be an issue.

In general, are non-sworn police employees allowed to carry with a permit?
In general, I would say yes...but you are subject to the same limitations as everyone else. Menaing that you couldnt carry in a Police Station or Correctional Facilty.

We have lots of non sworn Police employess with permits. Unless granted an exemption by the Sheriff, they dont carry at work.

disclaimer..I dont know you state laws.To be sure you need to check it for yourself.

We do not have a policy here at my office one way or the other. My lead install tech (office next to me) just got is permit and mine will be here by June 14th. We talk about guns all the time...I think he carries and keeps it in his bag next to his desk, but I have yet to ask.

Virginia is an at-will-employment state so I am some what apprehensive, but like the brother in law (packinnova) says, my life is far more important than a job.

I sit at a desk ALL DAY, with my office door shut, almost no one bothers me ever. I think I will be fine.

For about half the year I have to wear dress clothes and for most of the day I'm without a suit coat. The rest of the year is casual wear, so... I will neither confirm nor deny anything further.

I am a field service mechanic. All I have access to or carry are tools.

sadly not. I have to visit clients which frequently are in areas (e.g. schools) that do not allow to carry, and I don't like to keep it locked in the car all day. I don't want to contribute to the local gangsta gun-collection by having it stolen out of my car.

When I get my CCW, I won't carry in the office, I'll only carry when i'm out on the road.

Even though I can't get a permit in my county, it is private property. Years ago, when I worked the night shift, my boss asked me if I carried a gun at work. I told him that I did and he didn't say a word. I guess I could start up again, even though I am on days.

I found out that he had a Beretta 25 that he kept in his car. I didn't ask if he had a CCW or not.

I am happy that you can get on in Sac. I hear that it's just as hard as Santa Cruz County, my stomping grounds. In 2006 the population of Santa Cruz County was 249,705. The Sheriff's Office issued a whopping 37 permits. Explains the violence in a nutshell.

I work for a family owned Moving Company and the owner also carries full time so it's no big deal for me to carry.. I carry a HK USPc in 9mm in a CrossBreed holster.. I tuck my t-shirt in over my gun and leave my shirt untucked. Nobody is the wiser.
