As for me, I own the company. I carry ALL the time. It just depends on what gun I am carrying.
If I am getting dirty, working in a dirty/dusty environment or its gonna be HOT then Kel-tec P3AT. Easy to hide in any attire and at $230 new, if it gets mangled eventually it did its job and I can easily replace it.

If I am dressed better, it isn't so stinkin hot, then it varies from the P3AT alone, to a full sized glock alone or with the P3AT, sometimes its the Pf-9 and the P3AT. But never unarmed unless I'm going to the bank or some other "victim disarmament" zone and I have actively reduced such trips and try to hit off peak hours to reduce exposure.

Of course we were escorted at all times. And if I had been caught with a firearm in there, I'm sure I would be joining them in a few months!

In general, are non-sworn police employees allowed to carry with a permit?

Back in my private security days, I went to apply for a position at Wachenhut. They payed a bit better than the local firm I was with. While filling out paperwork, I was eavesdropping on some new hire "training" going on in the next room. It was a staged video of a new hire asking an instructor questions.

"Will I be issues a gun?"

"No, having a gun only increases the chance of you getting hurt." Orf some such drivel.

I excused myself and never went back.
I am in EMS in Kentucky, and in almost 4 years I haven't had to disarm once, but then again I have never been to the jail for a run.

Your state laws would make me want to move.

That's good to know, as I am moving to Florida next week.

Haven't read up on all the differences in the laws between Kentucky and Florida yet, but glad they finally passed that one. Hopefully being in EMS I will be okay also.

    Forgive my ignorance... but why?
The preceding post may contain sarcasm; it's just better that way. However, it is still intended with construction and with the Love of my L-rd Y'shua.
