The only people carrying fannypacks are carrying guns, in my opinion. No one could take themselves seriously and wear one for any other reason. The few times I actually see someone wearing one under the age of 60, I just assume they are packing.

We have had threads in the past about the responsibility of the person armed with the firearm to attempt to de-escalate. So many DC'rs have indicated that they will not change the way they respond to a *potentially* violent situation just because they are carrying, I think this is a good example of why one should.

We will never really know whether he had a chance to de-escalate and/or leave or not. But if he did have that chance, and he decided to stand up for himself instead, then he is responsible for the bullet that was discharged.
