On the subject of the bird/dog, etc. Didn't anyone teach you the magic words when you got married? "Yes Dear" and "I'm Sorry". Anytime you want to ask her "why?" or some related question (or respond in anyway to something she has said), replace the response with one of the two magic phrases and go on.

Oh, this one has been a good laugh

As to the dog and bird, just tell her they are included in the survival plan. Don’t bring up the fact the bird may become the “guest of honor”.

Funny you should ask this today. I just got back from Wally world. Spent $250 bucks stocking up for this years tropical season.

Since we live on one of Florida coastal islands, we pack the motorhome each year with provisions to last three weeks. Including, water, food, beer.

The RV always has a Glock, and a 30-30 rifle both with at least 100 rounds of ammo.

We use the RV all year long including several times during the summer, but when we are home it’s nice to know that in a moments notice we can pick up and leave for higher ground.

Why only three weeks worth of food/water/beer.

Our evacuation rout takes us to my brother’s farm, and there are all kinds of nice taste cows grazing in the field, should we be required to stay longer.

    Beef it’s what’s for dinner

You don't eat or release the bird.

You use it as a live radiation/gas warning.

If it keels over, you get moving NOW!

Just be a romantic and tell her than unlike a hillbilly if you had to choose between her, the bird and the dog you would take her. Unless you would take the dog in which case you better not go there...

    +1

I'm a "parrot-head" anyway. BBQ the thing, ya'll have 'other' issues to deal with when/if TSHF.

If it keels over and you are there watching it...its too late.
