Congrats!
I submitted my paperwork and prints on 4/23 and still have not received my "postcard" to come pick up my permit. Called today and asked about it and they said at most 8 weeks for Ingham county. Not too long for me!!!

Not sure I understand, what makes you need an exemption? (Can you appeal to the board?)

I live in Calhoun County. I turned my app in on 5/7/08 and I just got my letter telling me that I must appear in front of the gun board (on 6/11/08) before I can get mine. A buddy of mine said they just ask if everything is the same as when you turned in your app, ask if you have any questions, and that was it. Go down a sign your permit and that is all. He didn't say that they mailed it to you, so I will find out soon.

Congrats to those of you that have just received your CPLs. Mecosta County doesn't require you to go before the board, and they mail you a letter stating you have been approved/denied. Or if you time it just right you can call them a day or two after the board meets, and if approved go pick it up like I did. From Course to permit it was 12 or 13 days. Course on Sat. paperwork on Mon, fingerprints on Wed., fingerprint report, and board meeting, 3 days due to holiday break, permit on Wed. of the next week. I guess I was lucky.

The first place I went to was KFC. I agree about Walmart, too bad their isnt a Cabelas in every state. That would be a great first carry opportunity, I could spend all day in there. BTW Thanks everyone for clearing that up.

I Think we need to consider a new initiation walk. Getting hard to follow the current one.
Negative on the new initiation walk. The 'WAL-MART Stroll' is a time honored tradition handed down by our senior CCW holder. Ya don't just dump a tradition like this just b/c they don't have your type ammo.
Good job of improvising w/Subway.
