Michigan CPL in the mail today.
Well, my Michighan CPL showed up this morning in the mailbox.(what timing, I was going to Walmart this morning anyways). So I did the traditional walk, No nachos(had to get subway), and the sporting goods section didn't have any of my Ammo(Really limited to what they carry).
I Think we need to consider a new initiation walk. Getting hard to follow the current one.

I just recieved mine also. I submited my application on 5/6/2008 and received it on 5/30/2008 so it took about 19 work days. What do you mean go in front of the Gun Board? I know it says in the app but I didnt have too. BTW I live in Oakland County.

My County (Clare) has a gun board made up of the Prosecuting attorney, Sheriff (or his Rep) and a MSP Trooper. They review your file, ask questions if anything comes up, and you have to sign your permit in front of them. Only takes about 2 minutes for everything, Then they laminate it, finalize paperwork, and mail it to you. They only meet once a month, So if you miss the date Its gonna be another month until you go in front of them.

If you were a SC resident it should be changed to The Office Depot walk where you go to Office Depot to make a copy of your new CWP and send to New Hampshire to get your Non-Resident NH permit. I don't like Wally World, the one here is too dangerous.
Since it wouldn't do you any good then take the walk at Target. Much safer and nicer class of people at least around here.

Congrats and welcome from Detroit!
All Michigan Gun Boards are made up like yours I think, but we don't all have to appear in front of them (Concealed Pistol License is issued by County Gun Boards in Michigan, for those of you living elsewhere).
In Wayne County, we have to pick them up in person. County Clerk's office. And last I knew, it was a 5 month turnaround! (Gun Board does have to approve, we just don't have to appear unless an appeal is nec.).

Interesting, in Gladwin county I tried to get a "gun free zone" exzemption and the anti gun prosecuter ran the board and turned me down, even though ccw permit holders don't create problems. We still need to get changes in our CCW laws.
