Rensselaer county,if the permit clerk is open, you can get your gun the same day(she sends the coupon to the dealer)if person to person, just a letter will do.In neighboring counties it ranges from same day to a month(my Father who lives like 15 minutes from me took 5 weeks to get his Glock 19 on his permit ,apparently a 65 year old ex-military tax payer w/ no criminal history needs to be looked at closely )

I really feel sorry for youse guys. Here in NC you walk into the store and if you know what you want and they have it the transaction will take about 15 minutes. I knew this was Gods country.

A mistake many make is thinking they don't need a CHL for one or another activity. Buying a handgun is one thing, legally possessing it (outside of your home or business) is another.

I know the question was asked tongue in cheek, but Texas really isn't the "Wild West" some folks still think it is.

So, I thought I'd clear that one up.
Actually anybody can legally carry a concealed handgun in their vehicle in Texas as long as you can legally own one,

I'm surprised that one gun per month law passed in VA. Does that apply to CHL holders too?

No, 7-11 is anti gun -- but almost anywhere else.

no -- not if you are a gang banger, or legally prohibited from owning one or if you are committing a crime other than a traffic violation.

I'm in NY but the clerk is pretty easy going and will put it on your card over the phone and then have the coupon and stuff all ready when you get there. Took me about 15 minutes, 10 of which was the walk in and out of the building.

I assume that's for subsequent handguns, and not the first one. Am I right?

I got some listed on the back of my photo card (Orange County). I thought that was kinda stupid, but I figure how much could a plastic card cost? The answer is $5 per transaction.....
