    Concealed Carry in Pennsylvania

I'm going on vacation to my home state of PA in a few weeks, and for the first time I'll be CCW.

Just to be sure I'm legal, is it true that I can carry in bars and restaurants so long as I'm not drinking?

Actually, in PA there is no requirement not to drink, although it is a good choice not to drink. But yes, you can carry in bars and restaurants.

Thanks for the information. Even without a requirement I never drink in public while armed. In fact I rarely drink at home armed either!

Pa is one of the least restricted states is the U.S.

Follow your fed rules (Fed buildings, national parks)

State rules: Courthouses, state parts, schools

You do not have to notify police unless asked (get yourself some brownie points and maybe get out of the ticket - tell anyway)

Open carry is not illegal but it's not legal either. Pa is a commonwealth which means in order for it to be illegal it has to be declared illegal, and it hasn't. they can't arrest you for it, but it is uncommon enough that you will draw a lot of unwanted attention. Most leo's are pretty cool about it except near philly - be carefull.

Thanks for the input. I'll be staying away from Philly for sure. Never was a favorite place of mine. I grew up in rural central PA and never liked the bigger cities. I'm going back for a reunion and the alcohol is sure to be flowing, but I'll be driving and carrying, so I'll stick to cokes and hoagies! Can't go to PA without having a few hoagies!

JD, you mean Lima hasn't sent you on a mission to get her a real Cheese Steak all the while she has been pregnant. You know a good daddy to be would have taken her up there for one.

I bet you two are ready to bust at the seams. Sorry to divert the thread.
Just remember that shot placement is much more important with what you carry than how big a bang you get with each trigger pull.

Cheesesteaks are only good if there is enough 30 weight grease running out of them to lube a 18 wheeler. MMMMMMMM

I was trying not to mention them until you brought them up!

I always gain about 10 pounds when I go home. So little time and so much great food!

Eat the scrapple but add a little maple syrup to it. Yummy

Good advice - but, your reference to OC being "not legal either" is inaccurate. You accurately spelled out why Open carry IS legal.
I OC in PA and in Philly regularly without any issues. My LEO encounters have all been professional and without issues.

Two large Cheesesteaks with onions, pickles, sauce and hot peppers, a large order of perogies, and a large chocolate milk, from Yocco's (Lee Iaccoca's cousin) Hot Dog Shop would be what I'd request as my last meal.

    They ship worldwide.
