I had a German Shepherd like that. He would defend to his death. Very well trained. He just had an issue of descerning who was an actual threat - anyone that made too sudden of a move he would nail. One of our good friends grabbed one of our daughters in play not realizing McKenzie was sleeping just feet away - he didn't hold on to her very long. Our girls would keep him by their side.

This dog in the video should eat Big Macs for a week after that. Simply awesome!

I don't think so. Here is why - I don't see a bite sleeve. If they were training - he would keep his hand protected also. I have trained, been to training, to events, etc and one would be taking a huge risk by not protecting any part of the arms or hands. But you never know with these videos. Regardless, the dog performed when called upon.

Why is it always "Good Dog", why isn't it ever "Great Dog"?

    Anyway, great video!

I too think it is staged. The guy seemed rather calm after helping to dog over the counter. You'd think he'd call 911, duck, run...

    Great dog either way!

It's a good idea for those who work in a gunshop to OPEN CARRY... I have NEVER seen people working in one and not open carry, never... everyone behind the counter is armed and everyone inside can see it.

This almost looks staged...a BG trying to rob a gun store? And the way the BG lunged at the shop owner...is this staged? I mean...really look at the video, the shop owner is kind of grinning as he sets the dog after the BG. Looks staged but funny nonetheless...

It is staged, look near the end of the video. The BG turns to run away, but kinda walks looking back as the guy helps the dog over the counter. Once the dog gets over the counter, then the BG runs. Looked like he was waiting to lead the dog off camera. It also looked like he had a bite sleeve under the heavy jacket. Even staged, awesome dog, the dog doesn't know it's staged, and is trained to react the same way every time.

I have a cocker spaniel who will do exactly the same thing. She's very protective. A friend play punched me the other day and she lunged for his throat and nearly got a hold of it.

Some little dogs only pretend to be vicious, my cocker will rip your head off.

still, she's the nicest dog you'll ever meet, as long you don't appear to be doing anything wrong.
