Possession of pistols by non-residents
A resident of another state may possess a pistol in Michigan if they have a CPL issued by their state of residence (MCL 28.432 & MCL 28.432a). Without a CPL, a non-resident may not have a pistol in Michigan.

Quite simply, if you don't have a carry permit from your state of residence or are not LE carrying under the LEOSA, you cannot bring a pistol into MI or possess a pistol while in MI.
If you live in a state, such as IL or WI that doesn't issue permits or that your state has a discretionary system and you can't get one, you're SOL.
