    CC permit=Survivalist?

We've all heard the term survivalist and what it entails pretty much in general. We're not thinking of those who live in the woods and eat tree bark or have their log cabin fortified with solar panels. So...in your opinion, does having your concealed carry permit or what it entails...make you in essence a survivalist? I mean we, as a whole want to survive a deadly attempt on our lives or our loved ones....but would that lump us into the survivalist category?

Survivalist...perhaps. But I think most of the CCW holders would say they are in the "not going to be a victim" category.

I'd view that as one and the same. Thanks for your reply.

No parallel. If/when we get to the 'survivalist' point, then we are past the point of being sanctioned by the government to carry.

At that point, you do what you gotta do.

Survivalist...you're talking about a total break down of society. Nobody's going to be checking permits.

I've always pretty much planned ahead for HD and supplies needed for SHTF time...with or without my CCW permit, I will protect my home and family.
I think that it is getting more and more important to plan ahead.

Not if, but when Israel hits Iran (this year), there could be some heavy duty situations in our country even if for just a little while...plan ahead! OMO

"Survivalist" is now a word with negative connotations.

I merely consider myself to be prepared.
As mentioned above, if it gets to the "survivalism" point a CCW will be irrelevant.

Practice eating beetles, grubs, and larvae now!

I got my License To Carry as soon as I was legally able to obtain it.

When you put it in those terms I guess I've had a basic survivalist mindset for a good while.

I won't do anything with claws or barbs on it's legs until it's either cooked, or not moving. Earthworms have a full day's nutrients and they don't struggle much.

Living in a cabin in the mountains of Montana, stock piling MRE's, eating what you just shot or caught, shunning society = survivalist

Getting a CC permit and walking through Walmart = non survivalist

    Well, that's a hard call.

I guess allot of us who grew up with the threat of WWW3 could be around the corner any day era have a survivalist kind of attitude. And in post 9-11 America allot of citizens are once again, thinking about survival during a war or national emergency.

But, does carrying a pistol mean a person is a survivalist.

While being armed is part of the equation, but I think that the carrying of a pistol alone does not make one a survivalist.

However, I do believe all CCL holders are realist, and it expresses our opinion of the US Governments and it's local authorities, ability to provide protection for it's citizens.

There's not necessarily any link between CC'ing and survivalism, but I think you would find that CC'ers and survivalists share at least one common value - namely, that a person ought to (wo)man up and take responsibility for their own safety/welfare, and that of their family.

Correlation does not always imply causality.
