I travel to TN frequently and have tried to find a concise version of the do's and don'ts regarding TN CC law. I have a SC CWP and I'm sure there are some differences in the two State's laws.

We have simple rules.
*Tennessee is a licensed open carry state - no worries about printing.
*There is no "must announce" requirement in meeting law enforcement.
*The FIVE no-gos are:
1. School, college, university, relevant athletic event.
2. Restaurant which serves alcohol for on-premises consumption.
3. Park, playground, civic center, or other government owned area for the purpose of recreation.
4. Courtroom.
5. Properly posted area.
That's about as plain as it gets. Any questions? There are several of us that can answer.

I think that pretty well covers it.
In SC there is a must announce to law enforcement when they ask for id
Although not required by TN, is it advisable to do so?

I got kind of bogged down on the TN statutes - they are arranged awkwardly. But you would probably say the same about SC. And NRA-ILA, although good, aren't exactly comprehensive and accurate.
Planning a trip over the next day or two and was trying for the quick and lazy way out from you guys who already know.
What areas are you traveling too? Gatlinburg is a little tricky because of the geographic layout - there's a small area going from the Park out into town (almost like a peninsula) where carrying isn't allowed. We have a few residents of that area who are members here, hopefully they'll jump in and explain that more clearly.
Other than the Gatlinburg area, the laws are pretty straight forward.

If ya'll don't mind another question about Tn...
I'm taking a trip to the Memphis Zoo this weekend. Is this considered a park? Do they have any specific rules or laws against carrying?
Not sure about the Memphis Zoo but I know TN_Mike and a few others live in the Memphis area. I'm sure at least one of them knows the restrictions there.

Memphis zoo is not posted and on their site, nothing talks about this. I would carry. You can call to find out (901) 276-9453 but I'm sure whoever answers the phone has no clue.
Isn't the zoo located in Overton Park? If so I believe that would be off limit by state law.![]()
