I know Greensboro airport has the typical no weapons sign on the sliding door and IIRC so does Charlotte. However their are no metal detectors to pass through unless you are boarding a plane.

In MN anyway I have been in the 'front' area of the airport-where any general public is allowed. I saw signs in the parking ramps that said no wepons allowed, but I think those were meant for the terrorists
Just keep your eyes peeled and don't walk through any metal detectors, but those are obvious to see. I wouldn't walk in there with it-and then ask a security gaurd if your okay, but its maybe not a bad idea to call ahead anonymously.
    good luck~

I don't have an answer yes or no about airport carry.

Being born and raised in Charlotte (now in SC 20mi from Douglas International) the airport itself is relatively safe. But the west side neighborhoods surrounding it are very dangerous places. Just don't stray from Billy Graham Parkway (if coming up I-77) and you'll be fine.

When I would pickup my son home on Army leave I would just circle the terminal until I saw him standing outside with his bags, pop the trunk, load up and get gone. If you have to exit your vehicle you may want to lock it down in a car safe if thats an option.

Just use the cell phone lot that is near the baggage claim, have your party call when they have their luggage.

I do it all the time here in TX, the first time my wife realized I was carrying in the Airport to pick her up I thought she was going to lose her mind. She at least knew enough not to say anything until we were in the car and realized I was good since I didn't have to go into the secure area.
    Thanks,

Did you find the answer somewhere or did you call security? I ask because I've called places when I first got my CHL if I wasn't sure and almost always got a negative even if I was legal. I think most would just say no because of their own feelings about guns rather than find out the facts.
    Thanks,

Also, it is likely in the absence of actually knowing they are erring on the side of caution.
