    Wisconsin Personal Protection Act

This should be interesting. The Act lost by ONE vote last time. This time the backers claim they have overwhelming support. The Governor swears he'll veto it. The capitol has a "No handgune Law". Concealed Carry has alway's been forbidden in Wisconsin until the LEOSA Act of 2004, when thousands of LEO'S started carrying off duty. Soon PD's were issuing "policy statement's" that said in effect, "carry concealed, your fired." They even arrested some retired FED'S who were carrying, only to quicly release them for fear of lawsuits. We'll see.

Good luck with the fight up there.

More than good luck - let's see a flippin miracle - get things sorted out to where they deserve to be - at last.

Oh and, if any dufus spouts the ''rivers of blood'' deal - refer them to all other sensible carry states - where things are still surprisingly normal!!! Was it GA (I forget) - other day, celebrated 10 years of shall issue - and no major wars were fought!

A certain former Wayne County prosecutor (Detroit is in Wayne Co.) made the same insane claim for Michigan when we went from May to Shall Issue in July of 2001. I'm still waiting for the river of blood.

Your neighbor, MN, had to pass the personal protection act over again after a liberal judge used a pretext to rule the first one bad. After more than 17000 letters, calls, and emails to the legislature, both houses passed it with more than two thirds majorities in the space of two weeks. Fortunately, our governor was quick to sign both carry bills. Political activism can be effective. Good luck overriding the expected veto this time around.

Do you mean that LEOs are not allowed to carry off duty up there?

Please don't take the above question to mean that I don't think that everyone should be carrying. Every citizen has that RIGHT.

That's right, most PD's forbid it. H.R. 218 P/O'd a lot of cop's because all the FED'S, retired and active are now packing and they can't. I don't blame them.

Good luck WI! I was just saying to my son-in-law yesterday on the way home from the range that I am still waiting for those rivers of blood here in MN. Boot that Governor of yours out of office next election too.

Thanks for your support, gentlemen. I have to admit I was slow to get on the band wagon because I'm covered under H.R. 218, the LEOSA Law, but as my Son stated (none too gently), "Other people would like to protect themselves, too." Good point.

Minnesota's first carry law was over turned because it was attached to one or two other bills/laws. All wrapped into one vote.. Wisconsin do yourself a favor make sure your carry law is a stand alone vote!!

If you have a handgun in Madison, WI, you can keep it, but no more can legally be bought or sold in the city limits.
