I live in Louisiana but I use a FLA permit, mine took 60 days. My son has a LA permit, I can't reach him right now to ask, but I don't remember him complaining about an excessive wait, his was probably 30+, but less than 60?
Good luck

My wife and I currently have FL nonresidents, sent my LA one in right around July 10th so I'm in the boat with you. You might can call and get an update. I may try that later this week if it hasn't arrived.

Approval
Called today to check the status of mine (mailed around 15 July). Was told it was approved on 29 August, printed last night, and should be in the mail by the end of the week. The guy was real polite. With the power outages and other problems in Baton Rouge, I guess I expected a tired and agitated person on the other end.

Got mine yesterday
My Louisiana license came in the mail yesterday. So approximately 2 months (and two hurricanes) between mailing off and receiving. I also had not lived in LA for the required 15 yrs so that may have been a delaying factor for mine.

LA requires you be a resident for 15 years before you can get a permit? I've heard of some outragous requirements, but that takes the cake!!

15 yrs
It costs less if you've been a resident for 15 yrs. If not, you pay more to offset the cost of a background check outside the state. Sorry if I confused everyone. I've only been in LA for 13 yrs so I had to pay extra.
