Are you less aggressive now that you carry?
Are you less aggressive now that you carry?
Given enough reason, I was once willing to let my temper get the better of me. I find that now that I carry, I'm a lot less aggressive. I don't want things to get out of hand. I find myself finding ways to defuse rather that confront.
Anyone else?

I put maybe.
My thoughts are simple...
Dont start no crap and there wont be none.
I dont go looking for trouble, and it really dosent try to find me. I am the quiet type. My wife says that I have the "look". As a result of that "look" people dont even think about messing with me.

I'm a nice guy, but try to kill me and I'll have you crying for your mommy in no time. I have a son at home to raise and I'll be damned if anyone is going to take his father from him. That will never happen.

I don't think I'm any more or less aggressive than I was before I started carrying. I am much more alert however, because now that I carry I assume that anyone else at anytime could be as well. My days of wandering aimlessly in condition white are definitely over....

My gun is simply a tool. I am in control of the tool at all times, the tool does not dictate to me my actions, only I do that.
I try not to be a tool no matter if I'm carrying a tool or not.

Kind of a strange thing to explain.
Ok, I am definitely less aggressive driver on the road, no doubt. But that kind of started a while before I started carrying, so not sure if it's carrying a gun related or just mellowing in old age.
Now, when contacting people, I never look for trouble. But I am an assertive person on the job and off.
I would say assertive more accurately describes things than aggressive. I put forth an attitude that I am not sheep, but neither am I confrontational or challenging.
If I am confronted, however, I definitely have an offensive and not defensive mind set. If in unarmed combat, I am going to show explosive violence of action and be the first hitter. But only after they make the first move.
It's not a game... if the fight isn't over in 4 or 5 seconds, it's going to get bad. If the attacker is armed... again, I have an offensive mindset. I'm will be the first to shoot.
Someone approaches me and shows me their gun stuck in their waistband as they demand my money... I'm immediately shooting them! I'm not waiting for them to draw... that's stupid.
I'm not going to cover all scenarios here as things just can't be set in stone....
But I'm not looking for trouble, and I don't present myself as someone looking for trouble.

I was not quite sure how to answer the poll. I am not aggressive by nature, so am I less aggressive? No. I am the same. I avoid bad situations like the plague and if a situation starts to develop, I will walk away.

Definitely less aggressive I have to be now that I'm packin'. I don't look for trouble. but I don't run.

I am an aggressive person, but I don't go looking for fights and will avoid them if at all possible, if not its game on and I will be as aggressive as needed to win... thats why I say its a non issue.

YES, which is a good thing!
Carrying makes it easier for me to look for a way out of trouble when I would have run through it before I started carrying.
I got my permit at 21, I was pretty stupid, careless, stupid in my late teens.

When confronted verbally I used to be agressive. Now I walk away from it.
