    1911 Carry

I did something different tonight and tried to carry OWB carry of my 1911. Feels good to carry a 45 and I love the 1911 s . Now for the tuff part ." I show a Little to much Gun". You could tell by the end of the Barrel sticking out from under my shirt. My wife tells me I am showing and that i should leave it in the Jeep. No way am I doin that. I live in Louisiana so worse case scenario I am open carrying. My Wife Says where Is your Little Gun. By Now I am blushing and wishing I had my Kahr CW 40 tucked IWB. Any Different Suggestions on carrying the 1911 other than OWB Strong Side. Man that where I feel the most Comfortable with my weapon. I should Probably train More from different Positions. Any suggestions? Thanks in Advance.

I still prefer IWB behind the point of the hip if I'm trying to conceal, especially if it's a 5" 1911.

I've had great luck with HBE, UBG, Milt Sparks, and TT Gun Leather as well as Galco IWB rigs. If you're dead set on OWB, I'd get a higher riding holster and a shorter 1911.

    Pretty simple solution...buy a larger/longer shirt.

I am already taking up alot of material but I guess that would be one way. Maybe I ll saw my Barrel off may be Not. Just kidding . It will probably have to be something simple though.

Carry behind the hip with a good holster that has a good cant. It won't "cure" the problem but it certainly will help so. Strong side, straight up and down makes it a little more "long" and obvious. Canted can at least pull it up a little bit more into your shirt.

Buy a holster with more cant AKA tilt to the firearm and then it will not show.

Get a leather holster that covers up the end of the barrel. Most people if they even notice it will think its a Leatherman or a cell phone holder. On top of that, canting it like the lovely Lima suggested will help reduce what is visible.

I went through this same scenario carrying my 5" 1911 a few months ago and everyone's advice helped. OWB I use a Desantis Speed Scabbard that rides high and has a good cant. I also wear a tucked in T-shirt plus a "Tall Man's" shirt untucked. IWB is still an issue, but I've compromised with the same clothing, but a JIT inside. I'll get a real IWB holster before the end of the year.

Fall and Winter are around the corner here in upstate NY. Time to switch from SP101 to 1911. No more t-shirts. Bianchi Blackwidow and an un-tucked and lined full length shirt. Helps keep the heating bills down also.

Shoulder holster should work, if you wanted to go that route.
